Early this year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services passed the 100-day mark since it stopped providing reimbursement to healthcare providers for "never events" not present upon admission. Although the impact of the change is still unknown, CMS's new reimbursement model will present yet another claims-management challenge for the medical professional liability industry.
