Funded ratios using the market value of assets increased strongly in this year’s study, relative to the 2014 study, largely reflecting continued strong asset growth through 2014. After several years of strong returns, the flat market to date during 2015 will erode funded ratios. But the impact will not be recognized for several years in most plan sponsors’ funding policies.
