Experience

Hans has extensive experience providing clinical and analytical support for all pharmacy supply chain stakeholders. He has worked with pharmaceutical manufacturers, health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, employers, and state Medicaid agencies. Hans’ areas of expertise include pharmacy and medical claims analysis, budget impact modeling, formulary / utilization management optimization, specialty drug management, and product evaluation. He supports clients by analyzing broad datasets and providing actionable opportunities to improve the triple aim.

Prior to joining Milliman, Hans completed a managed care pharmacy residency at a large national pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). He supported projects, such as pipeline drug forecasting and value / outcome-based contracting. Hans also led a claims analysis research project and published a peer-reviewed abstract in the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy. Example of Hans’ engagements include:

Developing pharmacy tools, such as the Milliman specialty drug list, Formulary Analysis Tool (FAT), and pipeline drug trackers
Developing pharmacy savings analyses targeting the Medicaid population
Creating budget impact models to support manufacturer product launches
Conducting claims analyses utilizing Milliman CHSD and external database
Analyzing financial impacts of state Medicaid preferred drug lists
Evaluating PBM product offerings and optimizing formulary / utilization management programs
Conducting employer group requests for proposal for PBM carriers
