Socioeconomics and morbidity: What can consumer data tell us about social risk factors?

There is a growing recognition that social risk factors are significant drivers of health and healthcare utilization patterns. Several studies have examined the relationship between affluence and morbidity with results commonly showing that low household income is linked to poor health. This paper explores relationships between lifestyle factors and morbidity that the authors encountered in their experience working with consumer and administrative claims data.
