Over the past several years, legislation introducing a patient compensation system (PCS) has been proposed in states around the country. This article focuses on some of the significant aspects of the PCS legislation and how they have varied by state and changed over time. As the 2017 legislative sessions soon get into full swing, there will likely be additional changes as PCS legislation proponents push for a version of PCS to be signed into law.
