Eight important questions about SCHIP

The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) has a complicated financial structure that allows states to flexibly administer their children's health programs. For every dollar spent on SCHIP, there are potential shifts in cost and care, not to mention a range of intended and unintended consequences—providing plenty of potential for confusion.

An inquisitive approach to the issue can reduce misunderstanding and allow for a more informed discussion of children's healthcare. We have identified eight questions that people should ask to better understand the inner workings of SCHIP.
