Risk-sharing contracts have long existed in various forms under the broad umbrella of capitation, but newer approaches such as shared savings and shared risk are becoming increasingly common in all health insurance markets, including Medicare Advantage. This paper discusses some of the most important considerations for Medicare Advantage risk-sharing arrangements that include Part D coverage.
