Current Responsibility

Steve is a consulting actuary with the New York office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2017.


Steve’s focus is product management, pricing, and underwriting, leveraging predictive analytics for InsurTech, insurer, reinsurer, private equity, and venture capital clients.

He has experience with a variety of lines of business, including personal auto, personal homeowners, personal specialty, flood, workers compensation, and commercial auto.

Steve’s areas of expertise include:

  • Integrating underwriting, product management, and actuarial modeling for new product and market development
  • Preparing rate filings and supporting regulatory reviews for geographic expansion
  • Applying predictive analytics, tiering, scoring, external data, and new rating variables for improved pricing sophistication, risk segmentation, and loss-ratio turnaround
  • Transforming operations for increased customer service, reduced process variance, and lower expenses
  • Conducting due diligence on start-up and growth stage opportunities for strategic and financial investors

Before joining Milliman, Steve was chief underwriting officer for Homesite, which American Family acquired for more than $600M. He was also a principal at Liberty Mutual Insurance and a strategy consultant focused on M&A with L.E.K. Consulting and Mars & Co.
