Current Responsibility

Missy is a principal and consulting actuary with the Minneapolis office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2003.

Missy specializes in long-term care insurance. She has expertise with pricing and in-force management, including experience analyses, financial projections, compliance issues, and state insurance department rate filings. Missy also has experience with financial reporting, valuation, and asset adequacy testing.

Missy has assisted multiple clients with experience analyses and manages Milliman's internal research that analyzes industry experience to develop first principle assumptions and claim cost guidelines. In 2009, she coauthored a research report for the Society of Actuaries that studied industry experience transfers between care settings over the course of a claim.

Missy's extensive experience with rate filings encompasses both individual and group blocks with business subject to pre- and/or post-rate stability regulation. She participated in updating the rate increase section of the Academy of Actuaries Practice Note on Rate Stability Regulation. Missy coauthored the article "Mechanics and Basics of Long-Term Care Rate Increases" that is required reading on the Society of Actuaries Group and Health Core exam syllabus.
